Something we’re asked alot is “What is going on with the full ‘Treasure of Tardos’ episode?”. You can see a trailer for it on our YouTube page (featuring ALL the kids from the cartoon series!). Unfortunately, it has been put on hold for a number of reasons. The main one is simply the fact that we’ve already created a five-minute, original story fanfilm, and, by getting it included on the DVD box set, achieved far more than we thought we would with it. To us, it has been a smashing success, one that would be hard to top, even with a full half hour episode. Another reason is simply the financial aspect of it. This was all undertaken as a labor of love, and we DO NOT own the rights to be making Dungeons & Dragons movies. Because we don’t own the rights, we are legally bound to NOT make any money from the finished short. With absolutely no hope of making any financial return, it is hard to justify the enormous cost of things like location permits, set insurance, etc.
Believe me, if we had the money, we’d make it. Simply for the love of it. Since we don’t, we have to be a bit more frugal in choosing where to spend our production money, and completely original, owned stories always take precedence.
